Here at Christ Church you will find an informal and spontaneous setting for worship based on the pattern of found in God's Word. Below are a few F.A.Q.'s about our worship:
Why do we lift our hands?
"I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands" (Psalm 63:4). "I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing" (1 Timothy 2:8).
Why do we clap our hands?
"O clap your hands, all peoples, shout to God with the voice of joy" (Psalm 47:1).
Why do we anoint with oil?
"Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him" (James 5:14-15). We are grateful for medical science and what it does for mankind. Prayer and medicine are both important methods in ministering to the sick.
What about speaking in tongues and the interpretation of tongues?
This is an expression of the gifts of the Holy Spirit given for spiritual uplifting (1 Corinthians 12:8-14). At times, there will only be speaking forth in our known language. The Bible calls this prophecy and such inspired utterances are also meant for edification. According to 1 Corinthians 14:3, "But everyone who prophesies speaks to men for their strengthening, encouragement and comfort."
What are the tithes and offerings?
We believe the Bible instructs us that everything we have belongs to God. As a statement of worship and recognition of God's ownership, we bring 10 percent of our income as the tithe. Above the tithe, we bring offerings. "'Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,' says the Lord Almighty, 'and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it'" (Malachi 3:10).
These are some of the frequently used expressions of our worship. We welcome you to worship the Lord with us.
